We are excited to now offer massage therapy!

Massage appointments are done as part of a complete physiotherapy treatment plan and, here at ARMP, these appointments are performed by one of our amazing colleagues trained as BOTH a physiotherapist and massage therapist.  This dual training is why we chose to call this service “physio-massage”.

What is Physio-Massage?

  • It is a massage-based treatment delivered by a licensed physiotherapist.

  • It is a therapeutic massage within an established physiotherapy treatment plan, meaning its aim is to help you achieve your physiotherapy goals faster, not solely relaxation — though that may be a goal as well!

  • It is integrated care.  This means that it is done in collaboration with your healthcare team.

  • It is a physiotherapy treatment where a highly skilled practitioner with an in-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology and exercise rehabilitation provides a competent safe treatment.

Physio-massage can be appropriate for nearly everyone but should especially be considered for those who:

  • suffer pain from immobility

  • have imbalanced or over-used muscles

  • manage chronic illnesses resulting in consistently tight musculature such as (but not limited to) strokes, Parkinsons, multiple sclerosis, or spinal cord injuries

  • would benefit from palliative comfort care

What to expect:

A portable massage table will be brought to all appointments and a 5’ x 10’ space is required.  Appointments will last 60 minutes of which 15 minutes will be required for set up and take down of equipment.  Clients should wear loose comfortable clothing and have an extra towel and pillow nearby for added comfort.

*Should a client be unable to get on and off a portable table, please call to see if an alternate plan can be made, such as a massage done in a chair or a hospital bed.*

To note:

All physio-massage appointments are delivered by a registered physiotherapist and are billable under an individual’s physiotherapy extended health coverage and as such may not be billed under massage benefits.

Save a trip to the clinic -  ask your current physiotherapist or call our office to see if mobile massage could be right for you!
